Our second favorite town to escape to while living in the DC, VA, MD area was a small town called St. Michael's, MD.  One of the biggest reasons being the town is extremely dog friendly.  There is the booze triangle which includes St. Michael's Winery, Lyon's Distillery, and Eastern Shore Brewing Company (this you can read about in our friend's article "Weekend Getaways" on Dirt Road Trip) and all of which allow you to bring your dog inside.  In this town, our favorite go-to restaurant was Ava's Pizzeria and Wine Bar, where everything is homemade.  Their back enclosed patio is dog friendly including offering a dog menu, has an awesome waterfall made with beer taps, and has amazing pizza (the "Chef's favorite" was our favorite which is a white pizza with prosciutto, arugula, and balsamic reduction) and French beignets!  Their New Orleans BBQ shrimp is a great appetizer that comes with bread to sop up the yummy sauce.
